OmniRemote — Privacy Policy
Last updated: 6 July 2026
OmniRemote is a universal TV remote app published by Ipeleng Mekgwe. Your privacy is simple with us, because the app was built to not need your data. This policy applies to OmniRemote specifically and takes precedence over the general site policy.
What we collect
Nothing. OmniRemote has no accounts, no analytics, no advertising, and no tracking of any kind. We do not collect, store, transmit, sell, or share any personal information.
What stays on your phone
- Paired TVs (name, brand, IP address) are stored locally on your device so the app remembers your TVs.
- Pairing secrets (tokens and certificates your TV issues during pairing) are stored in your device's secure storage (Android Keystore / iOS Keychain) and never leave your phone.
Deleting the app, or unpairing a TV inside the app, removes this data.
Network access
OmniRemote communicates only with televisions on your local Wi-Fi network, using each TV maker's own remote-control protocol. The app makes no connections to the internet or to any server we operate — we don't operate any servers.
Permissions
The app requests local network / Wi-Fi state permissions. These are used to find TVs on your network and talk to them — that is the app's entire purpose and the only thing the permissions are used for.
Children
OmniRemote does not collect data from anyone, including children.
Changes
If this policy ever changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new date above.
